I just had the same problem on my computer running Windows XP Pro. I had to use
the recovery console (see other threads on how to use). Once I got to the Windows
prompt I ran the checkdisk utility (CHKDSK). Once it was done I exited out of the
recovery console and rebooted. My computer is running again. The computer guy I
talk to said that this isn't a virus. It can happen anytime, new computer or old.
(My computer is less than a year old)
