I do not know a permanent fix at this time; however, I know how to quickly fix it
without restarting. I have a Create SB Audigy 2 ZS soundcard. Whenever I start
getting error that "There are no active mixer devices available", here is what I
do...
I go to Device Manager, right-click on the "Creative Game Port" device and uninstall
it. Then, I right-click on "Sound, video and game controllers" and select "Scan
for hardware changes".
That will get the sound running until the next reboot or so. I wish I knew how to
permanently fix it.
