Thanks so much--have been looking for a quick or permanent fix for this since reinstalling
XP a few weeks ago. I notice that this works too for a while after the restart: start
> Run > "msconfig" > Services > uncheck "Windows Audio" > Enable All > OK > Restart.
If anyone knows a permanent solution (rather than has an educated guess about one--there
are plenty of them posted around the Web already!) , it'd be great if they could
post it. Many thanks!
