Hi,
I had the same problem with the plug and play system enumerator. probably it occured
after deinstallation of a media player. the thread concerning reinstallation of the
PnP enumerator didn't work in my case, either the reinstallation of the soundblaster.
my solution for the PnP enumerator problem for windows xp user is the following:
reinstall the service pack 2 on your computer. you can download it from the microsoft
homepage (about 260MB, it's free). due to the reinstallation lots of drivers etc
are overwritten. you don't need to uninstall service pack 2 before reinstallation,
you can just overwrite it. after the reinstallation, my sound device worked properly.
