Hi,
You seem to know how the XP activation works, here's a problem that I need some good
advice for.
I have Windows XP Pro (OEM) that was purchased legally about 2-years ago, I have
done some major upgrades to my PC (new GPU, additional RAM and a TV card) the HDD
and M/Board have not been changed. I have in the past done various HDD rebuilds to
void viruses and the like and have not had a problem with re-activating the product
before, but suddenly it will not activate via internet or telephonically. Microsoft
keep referring me to the manufacturer of my PC, but it is a custom built system that
I have done myself. The supplier that supplied the bits and pieces for the system
(and OS) has gone out of business (or changed his business name) cannot be contacted.
What do I now have to do? I cannot get help from Microsoft or the company where i
originally purchased my stock. Is there any legal way around the activation? Or will
I be back in to buying a new OS at a cost of R1599.00, the equivalent of 22% of my
monthly income!!!??? I've read lots of stories about cracks and stuff, but I don't
want to feel like a criminal if I can avoid it.
Best Regards
Dave
