Here is a Fix if your registry value that lauches the system tray icon is missing..
If you notice when you open up "run" and type in "msconfig".. And go to startup ...
There it will tell you where all of your registry's are that start up your system
tray icons... Ok. Now.. Here's what I found for Norton Antivirus Corporate edition
or the other ones...
NORTON EXAMPLE
-"The registry value that launches the icon is missing"
The shield icon is launched by an application called Vptray.exe, which is launched
from the Run key in the registry. If the value in the Run key is missing, the shield
will not appear. In this case, the Load Symantec AntiVirus Services option may appear
disabled within Symantec AntiVirus.
To add the registry value to the Run key
Exit all open programs.
Click Start, and then click Run. The Run dialog box appears.
Type regedit and then click OK. The Registry Editor appears.
Navigate to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Click Edit, click New, and then click String Value.
Name the value "Vptray" and press Enter.
Double-click Vptray.
Type the path to Vptray.exe, enclosing it in quotation marks, and press Enter.
Windows 98/Me/NT/2000/XP: "C:\Program Files\Symantec_Client_Security\Symantec
AntiVirus\Vptray.exe" or
"C:\Program Files\Navnt\Vptray.exe"
Close the Registry Editor.
Restart the computer.
You can also use that method for other system tray icons that are missing... Just
change the name of the "value" (f.e: Click Edit, click New, and then click String
Value.
Name the value "CTsysvol" and press Enter. Double click on "CTsysvol" and enter the
path name.)
This worked for me and I hope it works for you...Because I know this bug is a pain
in the ass.
