I still had a few hundred favicons from my IE days saved. I just stuck My Favicon folder in the My Pictures folder to see what would happen, and changed the MSN Butterfly ico to another ico file, and it did stay put for the couple weeks I had that computer running. So I'm not sure how common the bug is.
