all right I'll try to provide some more info. Yes, its a wireless connection, both
computers access the router wirelessly. Yes, we have permission to use the network,
the landlord set it up expressly for us, and gave us the WEP key, etc.
I notice when it has trouble connecting, and results in the limited/no connection,
I'm sending packets, but zero are received.
The adaptor in the laptop is an Intel PRO/Wireless 2200 BG.
As far as signal strength, its typically 'excellent', sometimes 'very good'. He's
using one of those extra-strong routers.
Additionally, I can also connect to a internet cafe that's 2 brick buildings away,
and I never have any problems there. The signal strength there typically ranges
from low to good.
