Download the 6 diskette set I gave you the link to. Create the 6 diskettes then boot 
form then. At some point during this you will be given the option to do a repair 
by entering R, do so. Then follow Glenn's directions to try to get your system working 
correctly again. 

The key is to get to the Recovery Console command line so you can enter the commands 
he has given you. 

Now if you have an XP CD then you could just boot it and start the Recovery Console 
from there.
