To Jon & Ben,
Your problem might be due to a security change MS made to IE. Basically, depending
on your security settings, IE no longer trusts some web domains not specifically
listed in either Trusted or Intranet zones.
Go to Internet Options > Security, then to either Local Intranet > Advanced >
Sites, or to Trusted Sites > Sites. Enter the domain name in the URL box and click
'Add'. You may have to uncheck 'https'. This should allow the temporary turning
off of status bar on popups and Full Screen View in MSIE 6. IE 7 should be similar.
Just turn on menus first.
If this is not the problem, please give more information.

Yep, I am having this problem with IE also. I want the status bar to be turned on
for regular IE windows, which is working fine, but when I hit F11 for Theatre Mode,
I get the status bar. If I press Alt-V and turn it off, it goes away for a while,
but later on it reappears. Wondering if something on the website calls it back. Any
suggestions? "
