My PC stopped starting up, I finally got it going by going into msconfig and starting
up with the minimum start up files & un checking the plug and play tick box, the
machine would work well enough but no peripherals would, then I found this thread!!
Removing security update Kb KB905749 then rebooting, go to msconfig and re-activating
‘plug & play’ and the device manager is working again. Many thanks, my PC has been
poorly for months!
