When explorer crashes, Some icons don't come back in the systray (notification
area) and the quick launch toolbar disappears. To recover all icons log off and back
on. Or use a program like 12 Ghosts Tray Protect. Quick launch can be restarted through
the taskbar properties menu. (this is annoying) is there a way to automatically restart
quick launch when explorer restarts (and put it where you want it, left side, right
side, autohide, etc.)? Also, is there a freeware program that restores all systray
(notification area) icons after explorer restarts? Or
some other registry tweak. I've used the SSDP UPPD
kill fix but this problem still occurs sometimes. Logging off and back on ends all
applications so it is not the
preferred solution to dissappearing tray icons, just the only easy one i've run into.
Thanks to all who read and respond to this thread. I'm using Windows XP Pro with
SP1 and I'm not using NIS. Also, I don't have any problems with icons not showing
up after a reboot. For problems like that, try using VIS Boot or StartDelay. Thanks
again. PAJ
