You answered your own question. Without auto updates your machine runs fine. With
auto updates it's a loser. Use Svc Packs only. No auto updates. By the by, can you
name the 64 updates and their purpose? Or let's put it this way, would you install
64 programs on your computer not knowing what they are or what they do.
