I have a dual-boot configuration: Windows XP Home on one partition and Windows XP Pro on another. Only Windows XP Pro exhibits this mup.sys problem. Windows XP Home boots fine. I'm pretty sure this happened after an automatic Windows update on the Pro OS. The fact Home boots makes me think it's a driver problem in Pro and not a BIOS or hardware issue (but who knows?)
