Sounds like you guys know a bit about DOS/Windows relationships... How bout this
for a twister.....
THE PROBLEM:
So, our Parent Company has spent a lot of $ (In the millions) to rewrite their DOS
program for Windows. As it turns out, the guy they hired couldn't pull it off (Too
many problems linking to Windows Print Spooler).
To this point, our DOS Software only prints to LPT1.
(Many offices wish to print to their networks, as well as to PDF)
Parent Company's "SOLUTION":
They provided us with detailed instructions on how to redirect LPT1 to any other
printer on the network.
Sweet. Except for the fact that OUR biggest problem is STILL having to scan printed
documents to PDF.
In most cases 300+ pages. Very time consuming.
******************************************************
Our current status:
We can route LPT1 to any printer on our network. However, we CANNOT PRINT TO PDF...
It accepts Acrobat PDF Writer as a printer
BUT doesn't give us option to save the file as a PDF
doesn't show on our desktop as a test page will
and the print cue either loads, delete's and reloads the file "local downlevel document",
or keeps sending THOUSANDS of jobs of the same name ranging from 2 Bytes to 100's
of kb...
Keep in mind this is database software, and we are trying to print hundreds of whole
pages - TEXT only.
******************************************************
Whish I had more info. Any help would be huge for us, and I am sure we could show
some sort of gratitude!
HELP!
