The folder tweaker suggestions above are fun and give you lots of options. Since
IE is an extension of Windows Explorer, when it makes an icon, that icon "belongs"
to Windows-not you. Just like system files and folders belong to Windows, and you
cannot modify them. If you open Add and Remove Programs in the Control Panel, you
will notice a panel at the left that is marked "Set Program Access and Defaults."
When that opens choose "Custom," and click the little down arrows on the right to
see your choices. Here you can change anything you like, and when finished just
click OK. Changing your default browser won't stop you from using IE, but it may
allow you to change the icons. Remember, you're hearing from a guy that only uses
Opera, so take this with a grain of salt. I never have cared for Firefox but have
left IE forever. I love Opera!
