Alright quick rundown. I'm reformating a newer computer (about 2 years old) for the
second time. The first time I had the exact same problem, and ended up having to
call tech service, the resolved it quickly. Unfortunately, my free tech service ran
out.
So heres my problem. I am booting Windows XP from disk, and everythings running smoothly.
It loads (not installs or deletes anything yet) up the files needed to reformat,
and then gets to the menu where I need to choose which partition to delete/reformat
(In my case delete.) Anyways, it doesn't list a hardrive in the list, therefor not
allowing me to reformat anything.
Last time I called tech service the company asked for me to change one bio setting,
which I BELIEVE (I may be wrong) was in Integrated Peripherals.
Here's my current BIOs settings under integrated peripherals.
OnChip IDE
-Sata Raid ROM (Enabled)
-IDE Bus Master (Enabled)
-IDE-1 Controller (Enabled)
-IDE-2 Controller (Enabled)
-IDE Prefetch Mode (Enabled)
PCI Device
-Audio Controller (Enabled)
-LAN Controller (Enabled)
-Lan Boot ROM (Enabled)
-1394 Controller (Enabled)
-USB Controller (Enabled)
-USB Emulation (Enabled)
Im at the point where I may just disable one at a time and test each one if all fails.
But before I do that I'd like to know A. Does anyone know how to fix it? and B. If
I did trial and error would it be dangerous?
