Using the Registry Editor: These instructions will disable the AutoPlay function for all drives (CD/DVD, USB, etc). Reason: Some find it annoying that Microsoft automatically opens windows/starts programs when you insert your USB. Make these changes at your own risk (Registry Editor is involved!) Click Start->Run... Type "regedit" . Navigate to the following folder(key) in the left pane: My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies Expand 'policies' key. Do you have 'Explorer' key in 'policies'? If not, create one now: [with 'policies' highlighted, click Edit->New->Key. Name the new key 'Explorer'] Click 'Explorer'. In the right hand pane right click in a blank area and choose New->DWORD Value. Name the DWORD 'NoDriveTypeAutoRun'. Double-click 'NoDriveTypeAutoRun'. Input the following in their respective locations: Value data = ff, Base = Hexadecimal Click 'OK'. Close the Registry Editor.
