I have a question about Windows Installer Appears Every Time I Start an Application:

I followed solution #2 outlined in article 10-103 and I still suffer from the following: Nearly every time I perform a function in Windows XP (e.g., open the control panel, window, explorer, IE, etc.) the ‘Windows Installer window’ appears stating ‘preparing to install’ but nothing happens. This repeats several times in succession for a minute or two before completing the command. Does anybody have any other suggestions before I throw in the towel and reinstall XP?
