(Windows XP Media)
You can change the default Icons for several items in windows by editing SHELL32.DLL.
Resource Hacker (freeware) can extract the files (so you can determin the proper
dimentions) or replace them.
It will even show you a small image of the icon your replaceing so you can scroll
through them easily.
Replacer (freeware) can VERRY easily replace your SHELL32.dll file with your changes
without any hassles.
Restarting didnt exactly switch EVERYTHING right away instantly, Some of the files
will take alittle bit, and some have multipal occurances for different places.
You can change the icon for items like control panel
or the icon for the actual DESKTOP. There are several spots to find or create your
own icons, But for a quick fix... There are several free sample icons available at
http://www.marvilla.us/sampleicons.html
They are all Professional quality, and they have many formats (XP/Mac/Vista)
If you'd like to REMOVE the little ARROWS FROM your SHORTCUT ICONS, you can replace
that item in SHELL32.dll with a transparent one (There is one in SHELL32.dll if you
extract it). it will change...eventualy.
