That did it. I turned off all "Intrusion Detection" services, and now the file transfer runs about 5 times faster. That is - almost as fast as file transfers through a direct computer-computer link.

Just out of curiosity - how does performance vary with how you have it set for assigning the ip address?The router has a fixed internal IP (the LAN side), and also fixed external IP (the WAN side). Both my machines also have fixed IP. Thanks!
