No audio in embedded media player 11

I have lost audio on one of my favorite streaming audio sites. www.atcmonitor.com.
On one computer (work)and my laptop, the embedded media player starts, seems to buffer
and play (continues receiving feed/packets). But there is no sound. If I copy out
the feed location (mms:whatever) and open directly in a stand alone media player
11 session, I get sound on the desktop (but not laptop), indicating it is not blocked
by the network at work. This has started in the last couple of weeks.

I get audio with no problem on my home desktop, even in Firefox, which is not supposed
to work with that site.

I suspect a driver issue or windows update conflict, but I haven't found it yet or
figured out what else changed. I have tried the suggestions on the website (license,
etc). No yellow hardware flags.

Any other things I should suspect? I must be missing something obvious.
Oh yea, embedded sound works on things like youtube (flash) and www.flightlevel350.com
(wmv files), and radio station feeds.

Some specs.
motherboard Epox 8kmm3i
via chipset running AC97 sound (yes, tried updated drivers)

Thanks for any ideas.
