To control the width: it automatically expands to accomodate the longest name in 
the list... incidentally I had no idea that was the case, until I tried it just now. 
I don't even use IE. Have some imagination.
As for the speed, I would imagine that it is controlled by the same menu speed as 
the Start Menu. That's easily found, I won't do the search for you.
