Hi,
No, I'm afraid I never did find a solution. However, in December my hard drive completely
died and was replaced by Hewlett Packard under warranty so when I got the new one,
everything was back to normal. Well that was until 3 weeks later when the new one
then died! It was faulty. So I am now on my 3rd hard drive in the last 2 months,
and it has lasted about a month with no problems so far.
So 2 hard drives, and countless infuriating phone calls to absolute morons from HP
later, everything seems fine.
Still, once the warranty runs out in a year's time I'll be looking to get a new laptop,
and it certainly won't be an HP!
