One thing you might check, if using iTunes, is the QOS Packet Scheduler in the Network
Connection you use to connect to the Internet.
I discovered, quite by accident, a conflict between QOS and iTunes, on my wife's
Toshiba, after correcting the earlier problem.
I can't explain why the conflict exists, except to say that the 20% of the bandwidth
reserved by QOS may clash with iTunes. Setting it to 0% seems to have resolved the
issue on this particular computer...which is the only one of ours to manifest this
audio problem.
My guess is that there are a host of issues on any given system which might contibute
to this problem...so there may be no "one size fits all" solution.
