It seems quite a few people having the problem with .cab files under XP. I hit the similar problem recently when trying installing some software consisting of .cab files. The installation program(InstallShield) throws up a "Error 1335:data1.cab is corrupt ..." and exits unsuccessfully. If you have the same problem, do the following: 1. check what program is currently associated with .cab files (by creating a dummy cab file, for example); 2. open that program and de-select its association with .cab. This should restore original XP built-in program to opening the cab files. What's happened here is 3rd party zip/unzip programs (WinRAR for example) pop up those sales windows during installation, invisible to you but stop the installation from continuing and make it exit with "error 1335..." which doesn't really tell you the underlying cause and what to do next .
