XP not waking up

I have this strange random problem that occurs occasionally with my system. I'm running Win XP SP2, not using hibernation of any kind, the only thing I have is the monitor (viewsonic) to shut down after 10 minutes. Normally when I move the mouse the computer reawakens (for lack of a better word) and there is no problem, however sometimes usually overnight when I go to use the computer the monitor doesn't turn back on. I can hear the hard drive running and the lights are lighting up so I know it's running. I've tried turning the monitor on and off and that doesn't work. I only can reboot the compter by turning it off with thte button. I'm wondering if there is a conflict of some kind between the "turn off monitor" setting and Win XP? My office has the same monitor, same settings, and never has this problem. Any ideas?
