Hard drive keeps filling up with acrxxx.tmp files

Help! Please. Every now and then my hard drive is being filled up, automatically. When I investigate, I find that thousands of acrxxxx.tmp files have been created (11,000 the last time it happened, each of 2.5meg!). I understand these are Adobe Acrobat files but I have no idea how they are created or how to stop them. Sorry to trouble this helpful community again, but have you got any ideas. Thanks.
