I had the same problem. I installed one program to work on .cab files but when I
uninstalled this program then my .cab files show default icon and none of the files
were opening. Highlight the registry key information and paste in text file and save
it as fixcab.reg. Make sure "Save as type " is showing All files. Double click on
the fixcab.reg and select 'yes' to import into registry. Then restart your PC. I
tested on Windows XP with SP2 and it worked just fine. When you hightlight it then
make sure you start it from "Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 " and ends where
it says "00,00,00,31,00,33,00,b4,fa,75,b6,75,78,c7,01"
