I have this exact same problem. Thumbnails show up no problem in folder views and filmstrips work fine. But when I double click on a picture, Windows Picture and Fax Viewer pops up for like a second and automatically closes. I made sure all the files were still associated with WPFV and did the run command and it still doesn't work.
