Umm... no.
Still reading my way through this thread, and there is a lot of it, but figured I
would cut to the chase and see what recent posters had found. This one -- insert
and remove a USB mouse -- looked promising. Except for one thing: it does not work.
System details: Sony VAIO with WinXP MC 2005, P4 3.2 with EM64T and half a gig memory.
Caps look good, no recent hardware changes. Having had a situation where a WinModem
would lock up the system on boot, I pulled the modem: no change. Annoyingly, it is
not making a NTBTLOG.TXT at boot, so I don't know what it's trying to do, though
in standard boot it does die at exactly the time it would be changing from 640x480
boot animation to full-bore full-acceleration video, so I suspect it's to do with
the PCIx driver or the video driver, possibly due to HW damage.
Still guessing... and my current guess is power problems. Will be replacing the PSU
shortly.
