Restoring Default Font

Hi, I've been having some trouble with my font for a couple of weeks.

It all started after I got bored and decided to install Carmageddon 2 back onto my
PC. Well shortly after I set the game to Windows 95 and then Windows 98 compatability
it wouldn't run. So I've uninstalled the game but my screen size went completely
stretched.

Since then I've restored my screen size to 1152 x 864 but the font still looks awkward.
On Desktop properties, I've currently got the font set as Tahoma size 8 with normal
size checked and under 'Effects' it has 'Fade Effect' and 'ClearType' both ticked
however it doesn't look like it should. I've changed my screen size to 1024 x 768
and 1280 x 720 and the problem still persists.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how to restore it to how it should look like, as
I've briefly read about DPi, or something, to work out the correct font size for
the monitor but I've no clue as to what to do.

Any help would be appreciated.

Kevin.
