Question about 'Prevent file corruption problems'

I have a question about Prevent file corruption problems:

I just experienced a hard crash that I couldn't reboot from and required that I reload XP onto my C: drive.

XP is now running, but about 25% of the music on an independent D: drive is now corrupted. When I listen to a 2:30 song, it plays 2:30 of random parts of two or more songs from elsewhere on the D: drive.

This happens in iTunes, WinMediaPlayer, and MusicMatch, so it's the underlying file not the application that's causing the problem.

Is there a fix for this? or is my music collection hosed?

Fortunately, everything is backed up, but I'll lose some application-specific data (e.g. iTunes song ratings) if I restore from back-up.

Thanks,
