I hope that I have placed my response/query in the right place. If not, blame it
on my inexperience.
After a major system failure, I reinstalled Windows XP Home on my PC, found that
I had no sound and saw that the Plug and Play Software Device Enumerator had the
yellow `problem' symbol. I uninstalled PnPSDE and hoped to reinstall it easily.
Having run into problems, I searched Goggle and found this site and thread. I followed
the advice initially given by Tony Maques and created a c:\temp folder and copied
the relevant files swenum.sys, streamci.dll and a copy of machine.inf from which
I deleted `ExcludeFromSelect=*' line. When I tried to Add New Hardware, I was and
still am unable to find PnPSDE among the System Tools. Hence, I cannot install it
or move on to the next step and install the relevant drivers.
Any suggestions?
