Hi Frank and others,
These files are for the serial port tools, not USB.
I struggled with the same problem but found a solution last night, I had for a long
time resorted to the tediously slow download of pictures via the serial port, as
Olympus only provides a serial port tool once you lose the original CD.
At first I tried installing the Win2k and XP driver from:
http://www.olympusamerica.com/files/Win2000.exe
and after that, I at least had XP recognise that my camera connected via USB, but
no imaging application recognised the camera still.
Until I discovered "Camera Controller" from Pine Tree Computing, installed it from:
http://www.pinetreecomputing.com/camctl_download.asp and selected my C-3030ZOOM camera
from the drop-down list. Immediate result: I could transfer all pictures from the
camera to my laptop via USB in a breeze.
The program has limited functionality in its free version, so consider paying $25
to get the full featured version.
Oh, and they have a very handy overview page with cameras they support and the minimum
camera FirmWare revision to work with their program. My C-3030 had the minimum rev
-78 that they require - you can find this info in the first line of each picture
taken with the camera (look with Notepad at a .JPG from your camera). The overview
is here:
