Oh dear, I hope my 1st message did not sound critical. I certainly did not mean
to criticize the article. Sometimes when I try to be concise, things don't come
out the way I intend.
Or maybe there's another reason why there haven't been any replies -- maybe because
the answer is obvious ("just dl the programs supplied with the article (Tray)")?
Maybe I'm being overly cautious, security-wise? But the program, "Tray", downloads
from an IP address, which makes me nervous. And the description in the article "...customize
the various aspects of the tray:" seems quite vague. And I'm a really new member
here at annoyances.org, so I can't rely on very much past experience. (Although
this very limited experience has NOT been negative.)
(Sorry to be a bit long-winded, but I want to be sure I'm clear.) While waiting
for replies, I've been doing further searching into the system tray problems. I've
found several different programs which could address my several problems with the
tray. So now I'm wondering if someone can tell me more specifically what "Tray"
does. For example, does it have a working 'hide inactive icons' feature, to be used
in place of the one supplied with XP which doesn't work? If so, does it override,
replace the latter, or fix it? Can hidden icons be temporarily unhidden? Does it
provide a means of launching other programs or apps from the tray?
Thank you very much :-)
