Though I seem to be "Johnny come lately", I must thank the forum and this thread
in solving this annoyance.
To reiterate for the later joiners (and Murali if he comes back) 2 things must be
done:
1.Rightclick on Desktop, click "Arrange Icons By" and then uncheck (remove the tick
mark) "Lock Web Items on Desktop"
2.Control Panel -> System -> Advanced Tab -> "Performance", click "Settings" button
and then go to "Use drop shadows for icon captions" and check it (fill the box with
cross mark.
3.I think Administrator type account is a must. (if you can install programs etc,
you are admin.
Considering such a simple and elegant solution, I wonder why there are so many "Utilities"
for doing this (some of which claim to change your system files). Even more strange
is people paying good money for these utilities.
I was fortunate in happening on this forum before downloading one of the utilities.
