Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely 
fashion.

It all started with Cingular Communications Manager.  I installed it, had trouble 
making it recognize my wireless modem and decided to uninstall it and try again. 
 Upon reboot nothing worked.  I noticed lots of the services weren't started and 
tried to start them manually, but I keep getting error 1053.

I've been digging at this problem for a couple days now, and I can't find anything 
that helps.  I've logged in with administrative access, waited up to 30 minutes for 
the service to start on its own, and rebooted too many times to count.  Safe mode 
doesn't help, and I can't get System Restore to even open for the life of me, and 
I'm not even sure if it'd help.

I tried reinstalling windows as an upgrade to see what happens, and it seems to fix 
it.  Until I reboot again.  I'm afraid I may have to format and reinstall from scratch.
