Just a closing note to anyone with a similar issue whose future search may turn up this thread. The Delayer app (see link in first response) works like a charm. The PC or network does indeed interpret Delayer's periodic automatic runnning of some command as user input from the keyboard and prevents the "lockdown on inactivity" security feature from kicking in. Quasimodo's suggestion to have it ping some IP address would probably be the best choice of command to run since it's a quick transient operation that doesn't leave some program running. But anything Delayer starts that you can shut down easily with a mouse click beats going through the whole password thing.
