I had the same no audio problem that suddenly appears and my solution was the last
post mentioned, manually uninstall P&P software enumerator drivers (deleting actually
just one registry key HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet0001\services\swenum
) rebooting and then uninstalling it from device manager. Then reinstall P&PSWENUM
again with the well known directions mentioned above, that bring audio to live in
my PC but I have a new problem, each time I reboot the audio is dead again and the
audio card drivers showing the message "the driver is enabled but has not been started",
then, to bring audio to live again, I have to update P&PSwENUM driver from device
manager installing from 2 diferent versions of machine.inf alternatelly (one with
the ExcludeFromSelect=* line deleted and the other with this line included thus I
question the utility of this step in the "well known directions") and each time I
do the process the audio back to live in my PC (whitout need for rebooting), however,
this is becoming tedious since each time I restart the PC I have to repeat process,
anyone know´s how to close the fix making WinXP permanently recognizing my audio
device drives each time I reboot the PC.
P.D. It brings my attention that each time I actualize P&PSWenum a message warning
me that the driver is not digitally signed appears, I suspect maybe this has something
to do with the problem but not sure....
Any sugestions???
Thnks in advance...
