This guide refers to XP services you can safely disable to free up memory.
It has been my experience that, if your data starts filling up the hard drive that 
windows resides on beyond half way, the PC will start slowing down. This is why I 
have always run two or more hard drives. I have a small but very fast hard drive 
for windows/ installed programs and another drive (or more) for data storage.
You may want to think about adding a 250+gig hard drive and moving as much data as 
you can to it.
It is generally a good idea not to move anything under C:Program Files. Movies, MP3s, 
pictures, and documents are usually O.K. to move.
