Thanks but this did not help as there were no items in the registry which corresponded to the stuff in the install remove programs list. I should say that the items of concern involve various Java updates. Even worse looking around I see all manner of old pieces of Java. If I thought it would work I would uninstall Java and start over but I am almost certain there would be scads of leftovers. There are hundreds of uninstall directories and saved program units in the Jave tree. Any advice would be appreciated!!!
