Problem solved-
I was having same or similar problem after I installed mp3 player.
Downloaded Realtek AC97 audio driver package 4.03
Driver link at -
http://www.softwarepatch.com/utilities/ac97.html
Installed driver (Installer included with this so it was just a point and click procedure).
Home page link-
http://www.softwarepatch.com/ (More complicated to find download on this page)
Looking at various search hits it seems that there is a software glitch with mp3
players and audio drivers…
