Can't change Acer Home page IE7

The problem was that my computer would always go back to the Acer home page no matter
what I set it to. Used hijack this to get rid of it but it just came back. Finally
went through the registry and deleted start page pointing to http://global.acer.com.
Now it goes the the microsft home page but my USB optical mouse does not work it
is frozen. I can use a ps2 mouse and every once in the while after a number of reboots
the optical mouse will work but not all of the time. I tried a different optical
mouse in a different port and the same thing would happen sometimes work on reboot
other times would not.
