The first thing you can try is to go back into the device manager, right click the 
modem, and uninstall it.
Reboot the PC and let windows reinstall the drivers for the modem.
The other thing you can try is to get the drivers either from the PC manufacturers 
web site or pull the modem from the PC, write down the name/model number, and get 
the drivers directly from the modem manufacturer.
The later sometimes doesn't work because the PC manufacturer may have there own modified 
drivers for the modem.
If your PC came with a manufacturers driver CD, then use it to reinstall the drivers.
This is a long shot but sometimes the internet service provider software can be older 
than the PC and it can't recognize the newer modem. You may have to download the 
latest software for your internet provider or get a newer CD.
