I have a question about Hide all Icons on the Desktop:

I have winXP. I have managed to turn off my destop icons... I removed all of them, including the recycle bin. I can still right-click on my desktop, the icons are just turned off. I remember just clicking a box, (it said turn off desktop icons) and they went away. Now I am trying to do this on another computer running XP. And I cannot, for the life of me, remember how I did it! After reading these posts, I assume I used a program, rather than Windows... Also, if I open the desktop folder, the icons are listed, they just do not appear on my actual desktop. Does anybody have any idea how I managed to do this?
