Corrupted Enum keys make a come back

Hi!
I hope somebody can help me with this. Otherwise, I will have to reinstall/repairinstall
Windows - maybe the best option anyway.
My computer: Windows XP Media Center Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 2, Olidata
S.p.A., Mce 2005 Sp2b German, Genuine Intel CPU, T 2050, 1.60 GHz, 0,99 GB RAM
The symptoms: Most important, the device manager is blank, both in normal and in
safe mode. No network surrounding, even though my computer works with LAN-cable.
The wireless net has worked before, at least until last summer, but doesn`t show
available networks now. The work place is really slow. Internet Explorer does not
work, neither does Windows Media Player (starting, but no sound). But Mozilla and
Real Player do work, so that`s why I haven`t done much before. Had some problems
with system instability, but some updates from Microsoft made the system stable after
some time, even though I got every now and then some black outs with blue screen,
caused by a device driver (I guess it was something sound related).
Another thing that might be related to the problem is that I had some malware this
summer, got two programs (Spysweeper and SpywareDoctor) to remove it, but the system
was never the same again, appearantly because the programs work not well together,
I experienced also problems with virus programs, changed also there, but this whole
thing wasn`t good for the system, and I have problems now with virus scanning and
the firewall. I can go into details if it should be related.
What I have tried: I thought it would be the top priority to get the device manager
working again and did basically everything I could read on the internet. The best
overview is probably here: http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/winxp/1134095035
even though I have tried a few variations and extras that where not listed there.
1) Plug & Play is not the problem, it is on, I also tried msconfig.
2.) Windows updates: has been a problem in the past (autumn 2005), but not now, and
on my computer are not the patches described.
3) Malware: could find anything, neither did Apropos Fix, didn`t have contextplus
or anything related in my software list, either.
4) Permissions on Enum are ok.
5.) Subkeys under Enum ARE corrupted, it is possible to delete them, but they will
come back when I restart the computer, even if I delete the key above.
6.) Tried sfc /scannow, works more or less, but in the end I am asked ca. 5 times
to enter the CD even though I have done everything suggested here:
http://www.updatexp.com/scannow-sfc.html
7.) By the way, registry mechanic finds 404 problems, quite a lot of them with high
priority, but if I want to fix them, I need to buy the program. I have also used
hijackthis, but couldn`t find any bigger problem with it.
Has anybody any idea how to tackle the problem?
