I just purchased an HP Pavilion laptop which has Vista (of course). Before the purchase, I queried the sales rep regarding dual boot so I could have XP. I was assured this was possible. How wrong I was. I spent hours trying the dual boot thing, and of course, the lack of a driver seemed to be the problem. Then I heard about the Virtual PC. Found out I could download the "Virtual PC" software directly from MS. Then, I was able to load XP. Now, I can access XP just fine, but the mouse is erratic and jumpy. (I am using a logitec wireless mouse.) But, I do have XP on my Vista machine, and I can run programs. This isn't as good as a "real" XP OS, but it's better than nothing. I ran into an additional problem with the transfer wizard between XP and Vista, but I'll post that separately.
