Assuming you have tried to make changes to your mouse buttons via the Control Panel
to no avail, read on. I rarely use my XP PC so I'm not able to say anything with
authority but I had a similar problem to yours when I tried using a 3 button mouse.
According to Logitech there was an issue with Win 2000 and SP upgrades depending
on which version of their mouse driver software used (I assume any SP upgrade, even
XP's is suspect). I couldn't get the mouse to function properly in 2K-sp4 or XP-SP2
on my laptop with a touchpad. My right mouse button is normally used for double clicking.
It would only work as a you describe yours as doing - normal right click activity.
I finally gave up and loaded the Microsoft Intellipoint 5.2 mouse drivers and I now
can enable the rt button to "double click". The Logitech software recognized the
touchpad and refused to load other than USB support I believe. But even w/a USB mouse
the double click assignment to the rt button was not working. I used the Logitech
9.7 software and tried the 9.79(?) I downloaded to no avail. Yours may be a similar
issue, only guessing but look at the Logitech site (if you use their mice) for more
info on the SP issues. Let me know if you have any success so we can track down the
problem. - Louis
