Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at 5:38 pm Windows XP Annoyances Discussion Forum Posted by Peter James (3 messages posted) All the above problems are still being encountered by myself and has nothing to do with the luna theme being corrupt whatsoever, the problem seems to have something to do with the generic host and svchost.exe. When they become modified or changed by malicious files the registry is modifed by string options and unless you have backed the registry up you've had it! With me when the classic themes appears my telephony is stopped as well as the themes, nothing can switch it back on. I even tried sfc /scannow from 'start' and 'run' with the OS disk in which should restore all the system32 folder files to their original state without any luck. One other thing when you want to patch the resources tree, you have to do this in safe mode as otherwise the files return to their unaltered state.
